How does an Escrow Service work (in plain English)?
A 'third party', the Escrow Service, holds the payment sent by the buyer until they notify the Escrow Service that they have received, inspected and accepted the item, the Escrow Service then sends the payment to the seller. Top
What does it cost to use your Escrow Service?
The fee is 2.50% ( minimum fee £5.00/$10.00) of the transaction value. If payment is made to Auctionchex and the transaction is cancelled, 50% of the fee only will be retained to help cover our disbursements. Top
Who pays the Escrow fee?
Either buyer or seller can pay the fee, or you can 'share' the fee equally.
It has been our experience that the buyer is who usually pays. Top
Are there any special Terms and Conditions?
Please click here to view our Escrow Terms and Conditions. Top
Is my money safe with you?
Yes, its is deposited into our National Westminster Bank Clients Account, should you wish to contact them for a 'reference' then please click here for our bank details. Top
Are you 'bonded' in any way?
As we are UK based, there is no Escrow organization we can be 'bonded' by, unlike the USA.
Auctionchex is licensed under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 to carry on the business of Consumer Credit and Consumer Brokerage ( Credit Brokers License Class A and C # 248399 issued by the Office of Fair Trading, a UK government department) and is also licensed by HM Customs and Excise as a Money Services Business (License Number #12145060). Can I pay by personal cheque?
Yes you can, but we would prefer a bankers draft (cashiers check) for immediate clearance.
Personal cheques issued by a UK bank will be held for 5 working days for clearance, and cheques issued by a non UK bank can take up to 14 days for clearance. Top
OK, I paid, but have not received my item?
It is the responsibility of the seller to dispatch your item to you. We strongly recommend that an 'insured and tracked shipping' method is used (such as Recorded Mail, Special Delivery, or Courier Service) so that in the event of a 'lost parcel' compensation can be claimed. Top
OK, the buyer has the item but not informed you to release payment?
It is expected that once the buyer has the item, they inform us to release the payment to the seller as soon as practical. If the item is not as advertised, it must be returned to the seller by a secure and traceable method. Upon confirmed receipt from the seller, we will refund the payment back to the buyer. If they do not reject the item and the inspection/delivery period expires, payment may be made to the seller upon proof of confirmed delivery to the buyer. Top
Is there a 'buyer's inspection' period?
Yes, we operate a standard delivery/inspection period of 7 days for same country transactions (eg, UK to UK sales) and 14 days for others (eg. UK to USA sales). By mutual agreement this period can be extended if so desired.
Top
When does this Delivery/Inspection period start?
The Delivery/Inspection period commences when the seller sets the transaction status to 'item sent', an automatic 'reminder' is sent to the buyer 24 hours before this period expires.
Top
What if the Delivery/Inspection period is exceeded?
Unless there is an agreed extension period, upon confirmed delivery by the seller, payment may be made to them as per the terms in our User Agreement which forms part of the Escrow Transaction.

How do I send money to you?
Either by direct bank transfer ( click here for bank details )
Paypal, Nochex, Cheque, Postal Orders, Cash in the post (at senders own risk). Top
Why is there an e-money deduction?
As our escrow service is only concerned with money, and not a product, there is NO profit margin to absord the fees charged by the e-money transmitter. Therefore we have to apply a nett value to each transaction where e-money (Paypal & Nochex) is used to send money to Auctionchex.
This means that if for example you sent £100 via Paypal we would only get £96.50 so could not send £100 out for you. Top
Can I send you a Paypal or Nochex payment?
Yes, Nochex.com requires no pre registration to send money to Auctionchex using your debit/credit card (Paypal does)
Please also see our e-money agreement. Top
Will you mediate in a dispute?
Yes and no, we expect the buyer and seller to resolve any differences between themselves
We will offer advice to either party if required, but will not make a deciding decision either way.
We suggest that any unresolved dispute be be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration administered by C.E.D.R.'s Dispute Resolution Service. Top
Is your Escrow Service just for eBay auctions?
No, other online auction sites, including QXL, eBid, Theblokeinthepub, and ClickAuctions have used Auctionchex as an escrow partner.
We also act for non auction transactions, such as a concert/festival tickets, web domain transfer, a private peer to peer transaction or any other transaction where the buyer requires a 'safety net'. Top
Why does eBay.co.uk not list you on their escrow page?
I don't know! There is no reason why they shouldn't, why not ask them? Top
Do you sell your user list/user information to spammers or any other company?
Auctionchex.com does not spam, sell or otherwise share confidential
user information with outside sources.
